at the request of Dr Perry & Dr Lewis I went to see Jane Twyman a freed servant who was shot by Dr Perry. I examined carefully the wound inflicted by the ball & entirely agree with Dr Lewis in the statement which he has made, in regard to it, the wound is entirely a flesh wound not implicating any important vessals and will I think in a short time be healed without much detrement to the girl. As regards Dr Perrys health I will state that he has been for the last 8 months in a very low feeble condition his nervous system unduly prostated his eyesight nearly destroyed so much so that he cannot distinguish one person from another at the distance of 20 paces I have been acquainted with the Dr for the last 20 years & have been his Physician since last August his health has been declining ever since that time, & he is now unable to walk 50 yards from his house since that period. This girl has has had every comfort & attended on [[strikethrough]] attended on [[/strikethrough]] not only by the physicians but by Dr Perry & his family since the accident, she has a comfortable room a good bed & any [[strikethrough]] type [[/strikethrough]] kind of food she desires Dr Perry at the risk of his health attending her every day.
