Culpepper Cor House Va Feby 6th 1866
Lieut. W.S. Chase
Asst. Supt.
Sir

At your Verbal request I have the honor to make the following report of the position, location and condition of the wound of Jane Twyman (a freed woman) now at Doct J.C. Perry's,

I was sent for by Doct. J.C. Perry on Sunday the 28th day of January about 6 O'clock A.M. to see Jane, I found her with a flesh gunshot wound, the ball entering posterior to and just above the middle of the hip joint passing down over the lower edge of the joint superficially and on the outer side of the thigh, entering The Deep [[?]] Facia or Facia Lata, through the inner border of the Vastus Externus Muscle at its upper point of Origin, just over the edge of the lower part of the Trocanter Major cutting the gluteus muscles near their insertion and burying itself in the Rectus Femoris Muscle on the front and inner side of the thigh, near the union of the upper and middle third. I followed the course of the wound for four or five inches, finding there were no complications, either in connection with blood vessels nerves or bones Thought it best to make no attempts to get the ball.

I dressed the wound and placed the patient in a proper and comfortable condition, I have visited her as often as it seemed to me necessary, ever since.

Her condition had all the time indicated a sure and speedy recovery., I saw her on yesterday she had no fever and the woman looked healthy and favorable.
