Be it remembered that on this the first day of February, Dr Isaiah Perry John H. Egborn [[Eggborn]] Perry J. Egborn [[Eggborn]] of said county personaly came before me W.S. Chase Lt 18th V.R.C. and Asst Supt Freedmen of said County and severaly and respectively acknowledged themselves to be indebted to the United States in the manner and form following that is to say The said parties in the sum of ($2000) two thousand dollars [[strikethrough]] to be paid one third of the sum [[/strikethrough]] to be respectively made and levied upon of thier several goods and chattels lands tenements to the use of the United States if the said Dr Isaiah Perry shall make default in the performance of the underwritten condition
The condition of the above recognicinc [[recognizance]] is such that if the above bound Dr Isaiah Perry do and shall personaly appear before such court as may be hereafter ordered by proper atho[[strikethrough]]u[[/strikethrough]]rity at such place a may be selected and then and there answer the charge of shooting the freedwoman Jane Twyman at his Perrys farm on on Saturday the 27th day of January 1866 and not leave until proper athority [[authority]] is given by said court then the above recognicinc [[recognizance]] shall be void and of no effect other wise to remain in full force and virtue
