Respectfully forwarded to Bvt Brig. Genl. O Brown Asst Commissioner for Va. From what I have heard of this case outside of official sources I believe the statement [[overwritten]] of Capt [[/overwritten]] of Capt Ashworth to be strictly correct. 

My experience with the Civil Courts in this Section forces me to believe that had the case been reversed, the black man would have been punished on testimony less conclusive than seems to have been produced in this case
