I have the Honor to report the following Case.

On the 27th of Oct. 1865 [(if?] I have been informed [[anight)?]] the Jacques [[Luisenberry]] a white resident of this County killed a a Freedman named Washington Green and who had been a slave of his [[(Luisenberry's)?]] under these circumstances, according to his [[(Luisenberry's)]] confession to a [[?]] Harvis which confession was the only Testimony produced against him by the Commonwealth.
After the occupation of the country by our troops and the fact of being freed had become known to the slave, Green remained at work for Luisenberry, and among the things he did was that of getting out shingles for the house of a Mrs. Pleasants, who agreed to pay Luisenberry for these by threshing out his wheat. Consequently Green was to look to Luisenberry for pay. After the work had been done Green asked
payment, which was several times refused.
