Sir:
I have the honor to Transmit the following, handed me by the clerk of the County Court of Louisa.
In Louisa County Court May Term 1866.
Whereas on yesterday whilst the Court was in Session a difficulty occuring on the Court Green between Richard Bibb and John Bibb, a freedman, during which said John was assaulted by said Richard when the said John fled to the office of the Provost Marshal at this place for protection, the said Richard pursued him accompanied by a crowd of young men and entered said office, notwithstanding they were requested by the Provost Marshal not to do so, and behaved most rudely, as the Court was informed by said Provost Marshal in the Evening after the crowd had left his office. The Court knew nothing of what had occurred until so informed by the said Provost Marshal. Had the Court been informed whilst the crowd was in the said office, it
