The charge of Horse Stealing was preferred by a number of witnesses, before major Leovy of the Secret Service of the Confederate States — and it was that officer, who had the case, specially under advisement, The Records of that office I presume have all been destroyed.
He was released as stated by Mr Taylor, by writ of Habeas Corpus — the witnesses against him before major Leovy, failing to appear, when the writ was sued out in his favor.
