General -
Upon my return to my post of duty after visiting you in Richmond I called upon the collector of Internal Revenue (Wm Dold Esq) for the purpose of having a checque cashed, while in conversation with him, He asked me if I was indebted to James Holly (the party from whom I rent my house and office) I told him that I did not owe Holly one cent and enquired why he had asked the question when he informed me, that Holly had not paid his taxes and that he (Holly) had told him that upon my return home he would collect the amt of my indebtedness and pay his taxes -

Not thinking the matter worthy of any attention I said nothing about it -
But today a man came to me who had been hauling wood and piling it near my house during my absence, and asked me if I was the man for whom Jim Holly (the man from whom I rent my house and office) had bought the wood
