General

I have the honor to report in compliance with the resolution of the House of Representatives, 39th Congress, that the amount (-in money value-) of Subsistence Stores, received and expended in the State of Virginia from May 1st 1865 to April 1st 1866, is as follows.

For Freedmen, Three hundred and ninety six Thousand six hundred and sixty seven dollars and Ten cents.
                                                                           $396,667.10

For Refugees Seven hundred and sixty two dollars & fifty seven cents            762.57
                                                                           $397,429.67

The amount of Funds received from Subsistence Dept'm't U.S. Army and expended on account of the Bureau is as follows

For. Hospitals.  Four thousand, two hundred and sixty nine dollars and nineteen cents    $4269.19
for Employees, One thousand, six hundred and seventy nine dollars and forty five cents,   1679.45
                                                                                        $5,948.64

The issue of Subsistence Stores to white persons except Refugees, has not been under the supervision
