To Genl O. Brown Commissioner for State of Virginia.

Your petitioner James P. Face, and Elizabeth Hawkins would respectfully represent that they as the heirs at law of William Face decd are seized entitled to a certain lot of land lying. being and situated in the Town of Hampton County of Elizabeth City, and bounded by the main street, and the lots of P. H. Latimer & William S. Tompkins.

That neither of your petitioners are embraced within any of the excepted classes of the Precincts Amnesty Proclamation of May 29th 29th 1865, & that each of them have taken and subscribed the oath of amnesty as prescribed by said proclamation. That no proceedings have been initiated against said property for confiscation, & that no Freedmen shall be molested by its restoration. In consideration of the premises your petitioners would respectfully ask its restoration.
