Dear Sir,
At the last term of the County Court of this County, held on the first Monday in the present month, Lieut Litzenberg, Assistant Superintendent &c. presented to the Court through me, Commonwealth Attorney, your communication of the 20th November 1865, addressed to "the Overseers of the Poor of Greensville County", informing them that two Freedmen (paupers) belonging to their County were being supported by the Federal Government, and enquiring whether any arrangements had been made on the part of the County to support and care for them. In obedience to the order of the Court, I have the honor to inform you, that no arrangements have yet been made to support the paupers of the County. In consequence of the pecuniary distress and troubles of the people, the Court has yet made no levy for any County expenses - but
