On my return from New York I find your letter of the 11th of April saying that you had sent for your Children by Express. No one has ever called for the children. I could [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikthrough]] not think of sending such little Creatures by Express, but I am very anxious that you should come or send some one for them, but would not be willing that they should go so as to suffer which they would do if sent by themselves.

I was willing to keep them and bring them up as they should be because my little son had become a good deal attached to them but as you do not seem to be willing for me to do so I am perfectly willing and anxious to have you take them away as soon as possible or as soon as it is convenient for you to do so -

The children are not quite well but have been sick with the chicken Pox. Martha is learning to read a little. Write me when you can come after them. I hope that you are doing well and that you keep out of trouble.

Your friend
Geo. W. Palmer

P.S. Gordon and Becka and most of the Servants are still with me.
