Garst, John, Jr. President of Board of Overseers of Poor of Roanoke County Va Acknowledges receipt of circular in reference to issue of rations, finds it difficult to provide for paupers for want of money Encloses copy of application to people, is informed by Lt Hunt, Asst Supt 8th Dist Va that he has some four hundred pounds hard bread and a quantity of fish and pork, asks if arrangement can be made to purchase it for use of paupers of Roanoke County Va. 1 Enclosure [[stamp]] STATE OF VIRGINIA. Respectfully forwarded to Bvt. Brig. Genl O. Brown AAA Genl, inviting attention to within letter of John Garst, Jr. President of the Board of Overseers of the Poor of the County of Roanoke, Va., And would recommend that the rations in the hands of Lt Hunt Asst Supt 8 Dist Va, be turned over to the Overseers of the Poor for the use of the paupers.
