The feeling, on the part of the 'Chivalry' against the teachers and Bureau, are quite violent; but I have the assurance of the Mayor and City Council, that they will protect and aid me in my legal capacity; also, that the schools shall not be disturbed. Finally, the Bureau bids fair to succeed; notwithstanding the violent opposition it met with at first; many express the belief "that if there were no Superintendent here that it would be worse for the citizens than it now is," and desire that some one should remain. 

I have the honor to submit the foregoing report as representing the true condition of affairs in this 
sub-district at the present date.
