I beg leave to report that on the evening of the 19th inst some person threw a large stone through the window of the freedmens school house.  The stone striking the window frame breaking two panes of glass and knocked over one of the children, this school is taught by two ladies who are here teaching the freedmen. These ladies represent the American Missionary Society at this place. For some time past stones have been thrown against the side of the school house every evening while the school is in session - much to the annoyance of the scholars and teachers.  Such conduct is not only cowardly but dastardly as it is well known that the ladies have no protector at the school.  Mr Johnson the gentleman who is associated with them has charge of a school some distance from the one taught by the ladies above mentioned.  My firm conviction and also that of the ladies, is that these stones are thrown by the young men who are here as students at the Washington College - or the Virginia Military institute.  These young men seem to be past all controle not a night passes but some of
