I have the honor to report that Eliza Alesworth and her three children belonged to Madison Leary of Middletown, and that they left his service with Banks Army in 1862 and that he found them in jail in 1863 (June) at Winchester, claimed them and sold them to Mr Shoemake liveing near Staunton, he has not seen or herd from them since that time, they were captured by Mac Richardson and Feilding Calmis of Clark Co. Shoemake paid him $3.000 in Confederate money for them
