I have respectfully to state that I desire information concerning the wife and three (3) children of Christopher Alesworth, (or Alesworthy) freedman, and have traced them to William J. Shumate of Staunton, who says that he thinks he sold the family to Jack Whayle, of Louisa Court House.

Will you please ascertain from Whayle what he did with Eliza Alesworth and her children, and inform me at your earliest convenience.
