Petitioners about this first of January last being very anxious to have the lands again brought under cultivation, appointed an agent to take charge of the said property and rent out the same, in parcels to said persons desiring to cultivate the land, with instructions to give preference to the freedmen there living on the place to rent so much of said lands as they could reasonably cultivate.  Since then your petitioners have been informed by their said agent, that an agent of the Freedman's Bureau has notified him that the land has been entered as abandoned land, and that all rents and profits accruing therefrom must be paid to the Freedman's Bureau - have your petitioners represent that this is the first indication they have had that the Bureau had made any claim to said land or any part thereof - and being now anxious to bring the same immediately under cultivation, to erect some buildings and other improvements thereon, they respectfully request that the said lands may be returned to your petitioners as fully and effectually to all intents and purposes, as if the same had
