Reports an assault made by a son of Judge Brockenborough upon two cold girls & one of the girls father while on their way to church. That the case was tried by the magistrate, during his the Asst Supts absence from his office at dinner. That the magistrate decided that the col'd man should pay half the costs & the assaulting party the other  No reason was given for causing the man to pay half of the costs or for not punishing the guilty party.
