in Richmond at the time it is alleged the said horse was stolen but all to no effect and the case seems to be as far from trial as it was the first day.

Said Henery Thompson "Cold" is badly bruised about the head and body from said assault and to such an extent that a surgeon had to dress his wounds. I would also respt'fully state they are allowed sixty cents worth of food per day each and that at the present there are twenty nine colered persons and one northern man (white) confined in said jail and they get only three dollars worth of food per day divided amoung them (thirty prisoners) out of which said three dollars an extra table has to be sett for the folowing named officers of Henrico County Court. Viz: Mr Wade Justice of the Peace, Mr Hoffman Sheriff, Mr Cole High Constable and Mr Fox clerk of the Court, all of whom have an office on Main between 18th and 19th street.
