5th The supply of labor is about equal to the demand - 

6th The Schools are doing well. The freedpeople both old and young are very anxious to learn. More teachers are needed in Lexington and a School should also be established at Brownshan[[?]]. 

Major Carse has conducted affairs in this sub. district with great energy and zeal, and in the face of quite a determined opposition on the part of many of the citizens of the county. The removal of the Bureau from this county would increase the difficulty experienced by the freedmen in obtaining justice ten fold - 

Sub. District G. comprises Warren Co. Capt E.H. Ripley Asst Supt with office at Front Royal. There is but little business in this sub-district, and the only records kept thus far, are those of letters received and sent. The number of freedpeople is small -
 
1st The freedmen are generally at work, and their condition in most respects is quite good. 

2d There is a strong probability that they will get full and impartial justice in the civil courts -
