the house of said Andrew Hopkins and by representing myself as a Mr Carter a friend of said Sam' Anderson and desiring to learn the whereabouts of said Anderson I learned from him that which eventually let to his arrest and among other matters mentioned by said A. Hopkins he informed me that said Sam' Anderson was once during the late war Captive by two "Yankey Cavalry men" and when near the "Yankey lines" one of the cavalry men took of his revolver and belt and that he Sam' Anderson took the said revolver unnoticed and shot the armed Cavalry Cavalry man first and then shot the other and left them for dead after releiving them of their revolvers.
