Your petitioners respectfully show:

That they Sarah U. Winder, Mary C Howard, Sarah C Kerr, and Richard B Winder, are seized and possessed in fee simple, of three parcels, or lots of lands, in the County of Northampton, and State of Virginia (Viz) one House and lot in Eastville containing one acre, two other lots, about two miles from Eastville, containing ten acres each, all woodland, all of which is in the custody of the Bureau of Freedmen; and your petitioners further show that they have complied with the requirements of the President's proclamation, and taken the oath; In view of these facts therefore, as well as in consideration of the fact, that they have as yet received no compensation for the use of the property aforesaid, your petitioners ask that the said Houses and lots may be restored to their possession.
