brought to jail, he was said to be shot by some one on Broad street, and was placed in a cell and seemed to be in much pain, and knocked on his cell door for water, Mr Hall came to his cell and told him to stop his dā€“d noise, again he called for water and Mr F. Hall came to the cell and said "I'll put an end to you", and then he was distinctly heard in a strangling voice to say "dont kill me dont kill me", after that he was silent and was not heard to groan or make any noise whatever, then Mr F. Hall went away.

About an hour and a half subsequently Mr Hall, Mr Brooks and some Colered men came to the cell of said Quincy and carried him from the cell down stairs, and as he was taken past the cell doors of the prisoners, they plainly saw a rope tied around his neck and the tongue hanging from his mouth.

Prior to Hall's going to the cell of Quincy, he procured a peice of rope from a cell, and was then heard to make the remark "I'll put an end to you".
