and about midnight repair to the room of said F. Hall.

Said Hall and Brooks were in the habit of furnishing the above named persons with good food & whiskey, and upon their complaints, the other female prisoners would be beaten severely by said Keepers.

Enclosed please find the names of 20 witnesses (white & colered) in regard to the facts herein stated, many of whom were sent to jail without being guilty of any crime according to the evidence presented against them in the Mayor's Court of this City.

There are some Northern persons and Colered females confined at the City jail who can corroborate this statement if they were out of he power of said Keepers.

This is but an abbreviated report of the many cruelties perpetrated on "Yankee" and Negro prisoners by said Fredrick Hall and John Brooks.

I can if necessary get 20 other witnesses to corroborate this statement, who can get testimonials of good character, honesty, &c, from some of the first families of this City.
