I suppose that I had complied with all the conditions and why Capt Smith now has instructions to take possession of the property released by order No 55 - issued by yourself I do not know. There were two cases against me ( No 135 and 137). One against the property released by order No 55 and the other against a lot of about ten acres on the Catoctin mountain - I am not aware that you issued an order releasing the latter and I supposed it merely an oversight that it was not embraced in your order No 55 - I thought of writing to you at the time to request that you would have the matter attended to; but I concluded that it was perhaps unnecessary that I should trouble you about it. I now write to beg of you the favor to give this matter such attention as may be necessary to have an order issued, if practicable, releasing the mountain lot referred to and to let me hear from you at your earliest convenience so that I may be able to report satisfactorily to Captain Smith before he makes out his report to the department.
