Bureau of R. F. and A. L.,
OFFICE ASS'T SUPT. York & James City Cos, VA.
Yorktown. Va., August 28th 1866.

Respectfully returned with information that the Farm within mentioned was returned to its owner last April by the Asst Comr State of Va. as to whether he is willing to rent the Farm in question to the "Freedmen" residing on the same it is impossible for the "Asst Supt" of this County to learn as Mr Warren resides in N.C.

The "farm" however is very large and no doubt the small number of Freedmen now upon the same will be rented land by its owner unless Mr Warren should yield to the prevailing sentiment of the County and not rent land to "any negro for the coming year" It is understood that one of the sons of Mr Warren will take charge of the "Farm"
