Dear Sir
I have writen you frequently upon the same subject  I am now about to address you. viz. the cutting of timber from a certain tract of land in the above mentioned Co It seams as if the freedmen have all determined to deprive me evin of fire wood  There is now being on the ground at least six or sevn hundred cords of the finest kind of oak and pine timber perfectly green. This is the ony instance in this Co at this time [[strikethrough]] in this Co [[/strikethrough]] though the privalige of getting own wood has been very much abused by freedmen and by some of the white citizens When I returned to my home in Apl 1865 or soon after the freedmen began to cut the timber from the above mentioned land I reported the fact to Capt Flagg the officer in charge of the bureau here; he immediately prohibited it as any any man of honor would have don, he was sent or orderd away Then, Capt Wilder was placed here and as soon as he to came The freedmen commenced cutting again I reported it to him he said he would prevent it, he gave me a gard I went to the place and
