Reports an unprovoked assault upon Willis Wood col'd by two soldiers of the 12th U.S. Inf. He being the only Officer at the Post, undertook to arrest one of the men, but the Corp'l of the guard refused to recognize his authority having no information that he was an officer; the soldiers were drunk at the time and cursed him; the one arrested has since been released
