such sale. In many instances such animals so law fully & regularly sold have passed through the hands of many successive buyers & care has not been taken to preserve said papers. It is hoped that such a provision will not be peremptorily enforced as to work the great injustice of depriving a rightful owner of his property, who may not be able to produce such papers - but who may be able to prove the facts of the original sale of the animal by proper authority

6th That John H. Suttle be requested to cause their resolution to be laid before Genl Schofield at Richmond & before the proper authorities at Washington & to invoke earnestly a suspension of the enforcement of said order & such consideration of the needs of our destitute people in the premises as can be obtained-

7th Resolved that the newspapers in Fredg & Richmond in view of the general intent fell throughout the State in the subject be requested to publish the proceedings of this meeting - The resolutions were unanimously adopted & on motion the meeting adjourned
