Boydtown Mecklenburg Co. Va.
May 18th 1866.

Brig. Gen. O. Brown
Assistant Commissioner
of the Freedman's Bureau
for Virginia

Sir,
I presented to you some two or three weeks ago the petition of Anderson Salle and others, asking your advice and direction in regard to the prosecution of a suit for a legacy left to them, by the last will and testament, of Elizabeth Salle dec. who resided in this County, and who held the above mentioned petitioners as slaves until her death which happened, about eleven years ago. You took the papers then and said that you would return them to me as soon as the could be examined by Gen. Howard at Washington. As they have not yet come to hand, I trust you will inform me, at your earliest convenience, of your conclusions upon the subjects of the petition and greatly oblige

Your obedient Servant
Sterling P. Throuer
