Virginia: City of Portsmouth to wit:

I Dempsey Nash Clerk of the Court of Hastings for the City of Portsmouth, State of Virginia, do Certify that a Certain lot of land with its appurtenances thereon, Situate in that part of Portsmouth called New Town and bounded as follows, beginning on the West side of Fourth Street sixty feet from Lincoln Street thence running West one hundred and twenty feet to George Marshalls line, thence South along said Marshalls line thirty feet, thence East one hundred and twenty feet to Fourth Street, thence North along said Fourth Street to the beginning is the property of George T. Townsend- and that the  property was not valued at $20000 in 1860 

In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said Court this 10th day of August 1866 in the 91st year of the Commonwealth.
