for the use of two of his lighters, for which I allowed him to cut of the fallen and decaying logs to the value, of not exceeding ($35.00) Thirty five dollars, a strict acct being kept, and the money properly acct'd for. - There is a tenant living on the Farm who was left there by Mr - Taylor. He pays no rent to the Bureau. 

- There is a fishery. rented. for. ($150.00) One Hundred and fifty dollars, pr year. This rent has not been paid yet. It is expected that this rent will be delivered to Mr. Taylor or taken into consideration in fixing the price of the rent of the farm for the year. - 

The reference to an offer to let the Blacks remain on the farm till they could secure their crops, probably refers to the conference with his son. This arrangement was proposed as the only possible one, and on that I reported the result, and recommended that when the farm was restored, it be on the condition that the Freedmen have till Nov. 15th 1866, to harvest their crops, and the Gov't. to remove the Gov't. property,
