June 22/97.

Mr. H. A. Conant,
Monroe, Mich.

My dear Sir,

I have your personal note of the 21st and thank you for the information contained therein. I had an interview with the young man Wheeler this morning and have told him to come in again tomorrow. He has no reference of any kind and I am a little suspicious. Still in this I may be wrong, hence my desire to think about it over night. You can bank on my affection and most serenely concerning my offering employment to the maid.

Yours faithfully
Charles L. Freer
