Dear Dewing:

I reached home on Thursday last, since when my time [[?]] [[pretty]] well engaged with certain social functions in con-[[junction with?]]  the departure of Gen. Alger and the marriage of Miss [[?]] I also add that I have been none too well, but am [[?]]that, all right.
[[?]] to Alger was really a great success. I hung the [[?]] cloth and [[?]] border of similar [[?]] the cove [[?]] while [[?]] the entire room, made festoons of pink roses and [[?]] flag immediately behind Alger over the mantel. [[?]] balcony in front of Alger with two smaller flags [[?]] the center.
The garden scene was carried out on [[?]] and was extremely beautiful. I introduced [[?]] jars [[?]] 100 electric lights of various [[?]] twice as wide as was had [[?]] dinner, and lighted the table with candelabras. The fountain was really beautiful and [[you]] [[?]] I never saw men more enthusiastic and doubt if I [[?]] more harmoniously jolly dinner.

[[?]] captured the town, and after the dinner [[?]] morn [[?]] advanced Gen. Alger, who is [[?]] insisted on having the musicians go to his [[?]] family. It is said that the spire of the near by [[?]] church still trembles from the uproar made by the [[?]] inside of the General's home.
