April 29/97.

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

I am just home from ten days' absence and find your valued letter of 18th inst. I am glad you found the new Tryon so satisfying. I have as yet seen it myself only in its earlier stages, but a number of my friends who have seen it in its present state have written me practically along the same lines as you have don. Ere long I fancy the picture will be in Detroit and after it arrives I will let you know how nearly your views and mine agree.
I am glad you are soon to tackle the "Rising Moon" and doubt not that the result will be in your bass the same as it has been with Tryon in his last work, so we shall wait for the new Kingsley masterpiece. Will be very glad indeed to receive the "Relyoke Memories" and also the Inness "Rider" and other proofs mentioned.
With kindest regards,

Yours very sincerely,
Charles L Freer

Mr. Elbridge Kingsley,
Hadley, Mass.
