Mr. D. J. R. Ushikube,
C/o Yamanaka & Co.,
20 West 27th St., New York.

My dear Sir:

I have your kind letter sent from Montreal and am glad to hear from you.
The fact is that during my illness the doctor permitted me to see only two or three visitors, so even if you had found time to call upon me, it is doubtful if you would have gotten to my room. Of course if would have given me great pleasure to have seen you, but my doctor insisted upon my keeping as quiet as possible and he also desired me to do practically no talking. I left New York on Sunday last and arrived home on Monday, since when I have been gaining daily and hope soon to be all right again.
The Eitoku screen arrived safely and looks very charming indeed in its new quarters. The pieces from the Dana collection are also at my house in perfect condition, and I am greatly obliged to you for having attended to caring for, packing, and forwarding the same. It was really a great accommodation to me and one that I shall long remember. I hope you will sed your bill for all expenses in connection therewith.
What a charming time you must have had with Sir Williams Van hornet. he is such a delightful man and his collection is certainly very fascinating. I trust that you will find it possible to do considerable business with him hereafter.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
