Your favor of 29th [[?]] is received and noted. I am glad to hear from you and of course am pleased to hear your diagnosis of the late illness. As I was taken ill at about four o'clock on the first day of the [[?]] sale, I [[?]] not [[?]] slightest doubt that the cause was the [["late ?"]] by you [[on]] behalf of the [[?]] Dynasty in Korean affairs, and when I found that you and your [[?-like]] client were determined to have the large Korean [[?]], all hope departed.

I went to bed this afternoon but was out again for a few moments the next morning, yet could not attend the sale during the two following days, and in [[last]] was confined
