Dear Mr.Hecker:-

Since I wrote you last we have been kept pretty busy purchasing material for the orders for cars recently taken and we feel that we have gotten favorable prices upon nearly all of our supplies. The rates on Southern Pine lumber advance July 1st, which strikes us pretty heavily, but otherwise our actual prices will be considerably below our estimates. On the bolsters for the 250 F.& P.M. cars we save five dollars per car by using the Fox instead of the Simplex. Mr Greene spent all of last Monday with me and I arrived at a very good understanding with him on several matters. It is not unlikely that during the fall his Receivers will buy one thousand Coal cars and if they do we will have a good chance at them. They will buy no more Box cars at present.

Messrs.Bagshawe and Wilson were with me on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and we discussed the different matters of interest pretty fully. Wilson's position has been made very strong. He is to be President with full power and if he can maintain harmony in his concern the management will be very much better in the future than it has been in the past. The one danger now seems to be the intent on the part of Brady to intrigue with Raymond. The question of building a steel car plant at Joliet was gone into most fully and for the present no positive steps will be taken. Mr. Bagshawe expects to return to America next fall and by the time he returns further necessary dates will have
