September 16th, 1898.

S. J. Peabody, Esq.,
Columbia City, Indiana.

My dear Sir:-

I have yours of September 13th and note the same fully. I regret exceedingly that Will should indulge in such foolish and unnecessary notes. At the time I sent him the draft for $750.00 I sent him copies of the letters received from you and told him that I disapproved of his promising to secure my endorsement on his paper and I fancy that this letter caused him to send you the abusive notes. If you do not receive the fifty dollars still due from him,let me know and I will send it direct to you. I can see nothing in your action to justify his remarks and I am of course very sorry that he lost his temper in the matter. You did quite proper in writing me as you did and I shall so advise him next time we meet.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
