Mr. W. M. Chapin,
Ashley Falls, Mass,

Dear Sir:-

Your letter of 22nd instant is received and fully noted.

While in New York a few day ago I purchased Mr. Bishop's farm but do not expect to do anything in connection with it this year, I shall sail for Italy next week to be gone all summer and I have asked Mr. Bishop to continue in charge and use it just the same as if it were still his own. I have not yet given much thought as to what I shall undertake there next year, but will conclude the matter while absent this summer. I doubt very much if I shall ever went a superintendent, but of this I will know better when I have decided how to handle the place.

I am under obligations to you for the courtesy you have always shown me when I have met you at the farm and beg to renew my thanks for the same.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
