Chief of Motive Power, Penn's R.R. Co.,
Philadelphia, PA.

Dear Sir:-

I am in receipt of your favor of the 12th instant, enclosing check No. 438, issued by the Guaranty Trust Company, payable to your order for $437.50, being dividend No. 1 of 1,3/4% on 250shares, standing in your name, of the Preferred Capital Stock of the American Car and Foundry Co.

As the records of the American Car and Foundry Company, on July 1st, when the above check was issued, showed that you held 250 shares of the Preferred Stock of that Company, it will not be possible to have the check issued in favor of anyone but yourself, therefore, I beg to return the check to you herewith with the request that you endorse it without recourse, payable to my order, that in Col. Hecker's absence I may transmit it to the proper person.

Yours truly,
H. A. B. Aikman
