Mr. R. E. Moore,
33 Union Square, Decker Building,
New York City.

My dear Mr. Moore:-
The two pieces of pottery covered by your invoice of the 16th instant came safely, but absence from home has prevented earlier acknowledgement of their receipt.

Now, concerning the buff for the green splashes. You will remember that when I finally decided to purchase it, I expressed considerable doubt about its proving entirely satisfactory to me. Closer examination and better acquaintance with the jar confirms earlier impressions, and I believe in the end I shall decide to return it to you, exchanging it for other goods of the same financial value. The gilded spot on shoulder of the jar detracts very much indeed from the beauty. Furthermore, in comparing it with other pieces in my collection I find its quality less attractive than I first imagined. I name these facts to you in perfect frankness and do so with the assurance that you will not misunderstand me.

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
