Hot Springs, Va., Oct. 21st, 1899.

My dear Mr. Griffith:-
Your letter of the 16th instance reached me here, and I note same fully.
I believe that a lecture by Professor Morse, given under the auspices of the Detroit Museum of Art, would be well attended, and I am sure that it would prove very interesting to a Detroit audience. It seems to me that if you can arrange with Mr. French, of the Art Institute of Chicago, as suggested, it would be an excellent plan, and would, of course, reduce the expense. It will give me pleasure to cooperate in this matter, in whatever way may seem to you most agreeable, and I would like you to feel at liberty to call upon me for whatever financial assistance may be needed.
With best wishes, I am,
Yours very truly,

Mr. A. H. Griffith,
Managing Director, Detroit Museum of Art,
Detroit, Michigan.
