Mr. George Hargreaves,
Dis. Mgr., Amer. Car & Foundry Co.,
Detroit, Michigan.

Dear Mr. Hargreaves:
I have your courteous note of November 29th, informing me that Mr. Hatashita will be taken on the General Office Roll of your Company at a rate of $50.00 per month beginning December 1st, 1899, also that it is your intention to let him assist in the erection of Sample Cars. I am very much pleased with your decision in this matter and I believe it will be to the best interest of your Company. I hear multiple reports concerning his work from his shop associates and has earlier employers in New York, and those who know of his life and family in Japan speak in finest terms thereof.
Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
