Detroit, Michigan,
December 21st.1899.

Mr. F. H. Eaton,
Care Amer. Car & Fdry. Co.,
Empire Building, 71 Broadway,
New York City.

My dear Mr. Eaton:-
I have your telegram of to-day in answer to mine, stating that you would prefer the $110.00 specimen sent to Mr. Walter and I am happy to inform you that I have complied therewith. The article sent Mr. Walter is a very distinguished piece of Japanese pottery known as "Ki-Seto", of bull's eye shape. It gets this name because of its resemblance to the bull's eye, its shape being of that peculiarity, and its coloring such dark brown with wide splashes of gray, pale blue and faint yellow. I purchased the piece from Mr. R. K. Moore and take pleasure in handing you enclosed herewith copy of his letter sent to me at the time of the purchase. His praise of the jar is fully borne out in reality. In fact it is the most beautiful piece of its kind I have ever seen and I doubt if its equal can be found anywhere. My own impulse at first was to send the jar without consulting you, but I felt that the price might possibly be more than you would care to invest.

I have sent Mr. McBride a list of all the presents shipped from my collection and have requested him to advise you fully concerning them.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, believe me,

Yours very truly,
Charles L Freer
