Mr. Ralph H. Plumb,
Care Buffalo Bolt Co:,
Buffalo, N.Y.

My dear Sir:-

Replying to your inquiry of December 30th, which reached me to-day on my return from Canada. I believe that either Messrs. O. M. Kurtz or Halsey C. Ives of St.Louis, particularly the latter named person, would make an excellent director of the Fine Arts Department of the Pan American Exposition to be held in your city in 1901. Both gentlemen are experienced in this sort of work and I am sure would conduct their department to the entire satisfaction of all parties interested.
Inasmuch as you ask me to express the preference,if any, between the two men, personally I would favor Mr. Ives, but I say this without detriment to Mr. Kurtz.

Yours very truly,
Charles F. Freer.
