CORRESPONDENCE

Grosse Pointe Village, January 29, 1918

MY DEAR MR. FREER:

Fred gave me some weeks ago your most kind note to him in regard to the proposed Memorial to my husband, so as to give me the pleasure of answering it. Illness has prevented my doing so until now, and my thanks are most heartfelt.

My family and I think a fountain as suggested by you and your Committee to be placed in front of the new Public Library, would be a beautiful tribute, and we are deeply appreciative of the friendship for him that prompted the suggestion.

With sincere thanks.

Faithfully your,
ANNETTE H. ALGER

MR. CHARLES L. FREER

Detroit, January 31, 1918

MY DEAR MRS. ALGER:

Let me thank you in behalf of my fellow-committeemen and myself for your valued letter of the 29th inst. in which the approval of yourself and family is given to the Committee's plan for having designs prepared for the erection of a fountain in memory of our lamented friend General Russell A. Alger.

When the designs are completed the Committee hope for the privilege of submitting them to yourself and family for inspection and approval.

Trusting that your health continues to improve, I remain with kindest remembrances.

Most sincerely yours,

CHARLES L. FREER
