Dear Mr. Freer:

I am pleased to state that we finally finished up and shipped your frames yesterday. Bills for which are herewith enclosed.

You notice a credit on one of the frames for $17.50. The reason for this being that we saved that much on the finish.

When I first figured this frame I figured it in gold leaf, but in trying to get the same color, upon closer inspection, found that this was done in a special colored bronze, and as you wanted it finished exactly as sample we followed your instructions, and I believe that when you compare the two frames, you will find that they are a pretty close match. And as long as we were able to effect this for you, there is no reason why we should not let you have the benefit of it.

There is one question that comes up in regard to these frames, and that is the luxuary [[luxury]] tax. If I understand rightly these are to go into a gallery in Washington, and if this is correct, there is no tax to pay on them. If on the other hand they are for private use, the luxuary [[luxury]] tax will have to be paid, which is 10% over and above $10.00 on each frame.

After receiving these frames, and looking them over, I would be pleased to have you write us, and tell us just what you think of them, and any criticism you have to offer will be welcome.

Thanking you for your patience, and with best wishes, we remain

Very truly yours,
NEWCOMB-MACKLIN CO.
