The prices are as high as they can afford to pay, and they can get all the hands they require on these terms. 
With regard to the removal of the negroes from Broad Neck & North Wales; he made a representation to the Bureau, that the estates were rented & he wished the negroes [[strikethrough]] were [[/strikethrough]] removed; an order was issued to that effect, but no one dreamed it was to be done in a manner to cause suffering, nor would he have been concerned in any harsh measures toward them:-
Saw Col. Brown, who asked him to wait a short time, when he (Col B) had no doubt he would be able to do what would be satisfactory.- On this promise, has supported & continues to support from 22 to 25 persons at North Wales & Broad Neck, & as many on his own plantation. Supposes there will be no question about their right to reimbursement. 
North Wales & Broad Neck, have been kept up for the last year for the sake of the negroes, at an expense of $6,000, thinks this sum should be refunded.-
